Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris reopened on December 7, 2024, after five years of restoration following a devastating fire in 2019.
At the inauguration ceremony, clergy wore new liturgical vestments designed by French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. These vestments, adorned with golden crosses, were inspired by the large golden cross behind the cathedral's Pietà.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, known for his bold and colorful style, created approximately 2,000 liturgical pieces for the occasion, reflecting his commitment to sacred art and his friendship with the late Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, former Archbishop of Paris.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by solemn rituals, musical performances, and the presence of dignitaries, celebrating the rebirth of this iconic monument.
